Job Title:Logistics Coordinator
Description:

Position:         Logistics Coordinator   

Description:       Manage rail shipments and equipment to ensure timely delivery and maintain an efficient supply chain.  Support operations of managing railcars.  Provide daily support to the business units and play a critical role in ensuring that logistics data is current and accurate.

 

Responsibilities (May include but are not limited to):

 

  • Daily management and coordination of rail shipments
  • Track and trace all rail shipments
  • Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solution
  • Work closely with rail providers to ensure efficient and effective execution of defined processes and goods transportation
  • Re-route freight as needed to meet demands and minimize costs
  • Maintain maintenance, patterns and rates in RSInet rail management system
  • Ensure cars are shopped for planned maintenance/regulatory compliance and report weekly
  • Schedule mobile repair for unplanned maintenance
  • Assist rail fleet manager to ensure cars are worked to PVS specifications.
  • Maintain dates for shop events in RSInet
  • Review, reconcile and investigate railroad demurrage, switch and accessorial charges and dispute as needed.  Suggest route or yard changes to prevent  charges from occurring
  • Maintain and distribute rail surcharges monthly
  • Attend business inventory meetings and service report meetings
  • Provide regular written status reports to logistics and business unit management
  • Problem solve railcar movement and BOL issues, including communication to appropriate business units
  • Back up assistance when needed to prepare expenditure paperwork for all BRCs and enter purchase orders for railcar R&M
  • Manage conductivity database
  • Update and maintain RSInet service logs.  Respond to and log all shipment issues for communication to the shipper
  • Create and maintain daily, weekly and monthly statistics

Required Education / Competencies / Equivalent Experience (Prior to hire / transfer):

  • Minimum of two years logistics /Administrative experience preferred
  • S./B.A. degree or equivalent preferred, not required
  • Positive Attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications including Outlook, Work, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • ADAGE skills
  • Problem / crisis resolution skills
  • Database management – RSInet or similar system
