Description:    PVS Chemicals is a privately held manufacturer and distributer of chemicals on three continents. The company is headquartered in Detroit Michigan.

 

The PVS Distribution Group encompasses the activities of three business units; PVS Minibulk, PVS Nolwood, and PVS Transportation. The group distributes and transports a wide array of chemistry to the North American market. Total sales for the group are around $250m or approximately half of PVS’s total sales.

 

PVS Nolwood maintains branches in its Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati markets, reporting to the Vice President, Sales and Marketing of PVS Nolwood.  The Branch Manager is responsible for the successful operations of the branch locations and staff, including the P&L and Operating plans.

 

 Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):

 

  • Providing the leadership, culture, training, and management tools to ensure a healthy and safe environment for employees and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for P&L and Operations at the assigned branch locations
  • Responsible for direct supervision for all assigned Branch Supervisors and indirect supervision of all assigned branch personnel.
  • Using PVS’s strategic planning process, the Branch Manager is expected to plan and execute on a clearly defined strategic plan and measure to this plan quarterly for assigned branch locations.
  • Budget for and deliver on metrics that reflect a profitable enterprise that exceed industry benchmarks for the assigned branch locations
  • Set and then meet employee engagement benchmarks using PVS engagement measuring tools.
  • Lead a team of highly qualified supervisors to achieve the strategic, financial and safety goals of the business.
  • Shares the values that are behind the Nicholson Nine.
  • Serves PVS Chemicals Inc. as a key leader, putting the whole corporation first and standing behind and driving corporate initiatives. Demonstrating the leadership that pushes this ethic down the organization is also a key responsibility.

 

 

Required Education/Competencies/Equivalent Experience (Prior to hire/transfer :)

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years operations experience
  • Financial literacy is required. Applicant must understand how to read and use financial statements.
  • Knowledge of chemical distribution facility operation required
  • Working knowledge of governmental requirements related to the chemical industry; i.e. OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, etc. preferred or demonstrated ability to attain such knowledge
  • Supervisory Leadership; proven ability to communicate with, support, and motivate employees to achieve operational objectives
  • Strong verbal /written communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and work effectively in a team environment
  • Analytical; ability to track, record and report branch operations
  • Experience with performance metrics and process improvement methods
  • High level of decision-making ability; balancing customers’ needs and company goals
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to handle diverse and significant workload
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of chemical distribution

 

 Travel:

 

  • This job requires frequent travel (as much as 10%).

 

On the job Training (Required within the initial employment period – varies per position and experience):

 

  • Various PVS systems and software applications
  • Basic understanding of ISO and RD management systems
  • Understand applicable procedures, work instructions, forms, checklists, etc.
